At Grid Property Management we know how difficult it can be to get started with building your portfolio of income producing properties.
You still have your job, children and the responsibility to continue managing your home, but when pests strike one or more of your rental properties, that can make your life a little more complicated as you work to resolve your pest problem.
Here are 4 tips you can use to control pests and keep them from striking your Portland Oregon rental property.
Tip 1 – Remove All Unnecessary Water Sources
To avoid problems with bugs, rodents and general “critters” it’s best to remove all unnecessary water sources from your rentals. These include dripping water faucets, water in gutters and water in trashcans.
Tip 2 – Seal All Doors and Windows
Now that Spring has arrived, it’s time to take care of those routine maintenance items which you may have missed during the fall.
Take the time to seal the windows, doors and other gaps at your rental units to insure that critters are not able to get in and disturb the lives of your tenants.
Tip 3 – Install Screens on All Entry Points to Your Rentals
While screen doors can be a constant maintenance headache, it is a good idea for you to install screens on all your rental’s opening windows. This will allow your tenants to open up their windows and enjoy fresh air throughout the year.
Tip 4 – Secure Those Trash Cans
Take a moment to ensure that all of the trashcans in use at your rental properties are secure.
You should also encourage your tenants to make sure the trash cans they use in the house are self-closing so pests, bugs or rodents aren’t tempted to invade their house trash.
